Oilers Sweep Storm

Game 1

Game 2

The University of Findlay softball team swept Lake Erie College in a doubleheader at Anderson Field. The Oilers won the first game 8-0 in six innings and then won 10-4 in the second contest to give them a 16-13 record on the season with a 7-7 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Brittany Dauterman picked up the win in her first shutout of the 2012 campaign. She allowed only two hits and two walks while fanning four batters on her six innings on the mound.

Dauterman, Carly Borders and Tori Allen all had two hits each in the opener, including Dauterman's two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. Eight runs off of 10 hits and two Storm errors led to the Oilers sixth conference win of the season.

In the second game, Tawna Whited gave up four runs off of seven hits and four walks in her 10-4 victory. Whited added five strikeouts for Findlay in her seven innings of work.

Tied at 1 after three frames, Courtney Dwyer's single to center field scored pinch runner Kari Sparling. Jackie Messersmith's triple the following play plated both Dwyer and Jenna Motuza for a 4-1 lead over the Storm.

In the top of the fifth, Findlay scored four more runs off of three hits, starting with an Emily Reynold's single. Allen tripled into right field before scoring on Emily Stewart's base hit. Four walks scored two more Oiler runs in the frame as Findlay defeated Lake Erie 10-4.

Messersmith and Dwyer generated three hits each while producing three and two runs-batted-in, respectively.

The Oilers will host the Storm again tomorrow for another twinbill, beginning at 1 p.m.
