Oilers Defeat Defiance College And Ohio Northern While Losing To Hillsdale

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their quadrangular meet with Ohio Northern University, Defiance College and Hillsdale College in Ada, Ohio on Friday, November 7.  The men defeated Defiance College 163-13 while losing to Ohio Northern 122-83.  The women defeated Ohio Northern 132-95 and Defiance College 190-25 while narrowly losing to Hillsdale College 116-107. 

On the women's side, the Oilers kicked off the meet with a first place victory in the 200 yard medley relay, which was led by Jessica Ward, Kaley Holmstrom, Molly Cade and Emma Barnes who finished with a time of 1:50.39. 

Barnes claimed a first place victory in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.55 and had a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:19.30.

Cade claimed the victory in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.68. 

Ward claimed a first place victory in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.98 and took second place in the 50 yard freestyle against Ohio Northern and Hillsdale and first place against Defiance with a time of 25.01. 

Holmstrom took second place in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:30.22 and took second place against Ohio Northern and Hillsdale and first place against Defiance in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.19. 

Annie Currin took second place against Ohio Northern and Hillsdale and first place against Defiance in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:09.94. 

Ashleigh Weddington took first place on the one meter board with a final score of 236.95 and took first place on the three meter board with a final score of 235.15.    

The relay team of Cade, Currin, Michelle Stefaniak and Marissa McDonald took third place in the 200 yard freestyle to cap off the meet for the women, finishing with a time of 1:43.62. 

On the men's side, the relay team of Ross Stansbery, Graham Copus, Cody Craig and Nick Kaftan took third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.91. 

Janko Radmanovic had a great night for the Oilers, claiming a first place victory in the 200 yard freestyle (1:43.89), the 200 yard butterfly (1:54.56) and the 500 yard freestyle (4:48.08).   

Todo Djurovic claimed a first place victory in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.95, won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.34 and won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.51.   

Stansbery took second place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time 2:05.66.    

Craig took fourth place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.77 while Chaz Manocchio took fifth place with a time of 23.21. 

The relay team of Craig, Kaftan, Clay Fogle and Manocchio took second place in the 200 yard freestyle to cap off the meet for the men, finishing with a time of 1:30.32. 

The Oilers return to action on Saturday, November 8 when they host a dual meet at Sink Natatorium against Ohio Wesleyan University.  The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
