Oilers Come Up Short Against Wayne State

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their meet against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Wayne State University on Friday, January 16 in Detroit, Michigan.  The men lost 164-126 while the women fell 172-103. 

On the women's side, Emma Barnes claimed a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.26 and won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.13.  Barnes also took second place in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:02.75. 

Molly Cade took first place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 58.98 and had a first place finish in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 26.99.  Cade also took second place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.69.   

Kaley Holmstrom claimed a first place victory in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:02.62 and took second place in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 31.61.  Holmstrom also took second place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.91. 

Jessica Ward claimed a first place victory in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 58.69 while finishing in second place in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 27.42.  Annie Currin took third place in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:13.30. 

Hannah Schreiber took second place in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 28.02 while Kyleigh Rubis finished in third place with a time of 29.47. 

Ashleigh Weddington took third place on the one meter board with a final score of 212.50 and took fourth place on the three meter board with a final score of 220.90. 

The relay team of Marissa McDonald, Michelle Stefaniak, Rachel Farmer and Annie Currin claimed a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.83. 

On the men's side, Janko Radmanovic claimed a first place victory in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.39 and took first place in the 500 yard freestyle finishing with a time of 4:50.75.  Radmanovic also took a third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.19. 

Aaron Mitchell claimed a first place victory in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 25.04 while Cody Craig took second place with a time of 25.23. 

Todo Djurovic claimed a first place victory in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 54.76, and took second place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 59.84 and took third place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.62.    

Nick Kaftan took second place in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:00.51 and took third place in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.46. 

Clay Fogle took second place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.15. 

The relay team of Radmanovic, Craig, Kaftan and Djurovic claimed a first place victory in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.18. 

The Oilers return to action on Saturday, January 24 when they face GLIAC rival Grand Valley State University.
