Swimming Completes Day 1 at Calvin

Results

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of the Calvin Invitational on Dec. 1 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Men

The Oilers received a fifth place finish from their 800 freestyle relay team of Janko Radmanovic, Nick Kaftan, Trae Gulgin and Alex Matthews to lead the way. The foursome finished fifth at the event with a time of 6:58.96 and got off to a great start when Radmanovic swam his way to a school record in the 200 freestyle leg of the race at 1:39.34.

They also had two more teams compete in the event as Tucker Stocker, Cody Craig, Nathan Ladetto and Luke Klemen took 13th at 7:15.67 followed by Todo Djurovic, Gerard Niermann, Clay Fogle and Ross Stansberry, who took 14th with a time of 7:15.69.

Alex Matthews was ninth in the 1650 at 16:57.72 while Jon Marble took 16th in the same event at 17:48.84.

Women

The Oilers received a fourth place finish from Emma Barnes, Julia Snell, Amanda Stiegal and Katharine Kouvaris, who finished the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:47.20. The team of Meri Cizmar, Jenna Dasher, Brittany Menzer and Zoe Cochran took tenth in the same event with a time of 8:01.76.

In the 1650 freestyle, Brittany Menzer was 12th at 18:40.63, Maria Miller was 16th with a time of 19:36.35 and Corrina Talamo was 18th at 19:56.13.
