Oilers Pick Up 2 More Wins Against Malone

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed against Malone University on Feb. 20 in the Sink Natatorium. The women came away with a 182-101 win while the men scored a 176-92 victory.

On the men's side, sophomore Tim Stollings and freshmen Daniel Garcia and Kristofers Bregis all had a hand in winning four events for the Oilers.

Stollings set a pair of school records during the meet as he won the 100-yard backstroke (47.20) and 100-yard butterfly (46.02). His time in the 100-yard backstroke was good enough to reach the NCAA Division II "B" standard while his time in the 100-yard butterfly was an NCAA "A" standard. Both times also set new Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) records.

Stollings also teamed with junior Paul Pavala, Garcia, and Bregis to win the 200-yard medley relay at 1:31.02 and joined freshman Adam Hornak, freshman Luca Chiandussi, and Bregis on the Oilers 200-yard freestyle relay team to claim gold with a time of 1:23.27.

Garcia won the 200-yard breaststroke with a school record-breaking time of 2:02.65 and won the 100-yard breaststroke (55.42) and 200-yard IM (1:51.00). His times in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM were good enough to reach the NCAA "B" standard.

Bregis scored a pair of individual victories in the 50-yard freestyle (21.85) and 500-yard freestyle (4:40.40) while Hornak claimed wins in the 200-yard butterfly (1:53.98) and 100-yard freestyle (46.83).

Senior Dalton Shevlin scored two wins for the Oilers as well as he won the 3-meter dive with a school record 327.37 points and the 1-meter dive with 318.60 points.

Pavala added a victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.58 for Findlay as well.

During the women's victory, junior Kristina Coleman and freshman Zoey Fedele each had a hand in four victories to lead the Oilers.

Coleman won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:30.81 and also was a winner in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:07.63. She also teamed with junior Chris McFarland, freshman Gracie Glaser, and Fedele to win the 200-yard medley relay at 1:47.59 and joined McFarland, Fedele, and sophomore Megan Irwin on the Oilers 200-yard freestyle relay team to claim gold with a time of 1:39.06. Fedele meanwhile picked up a pair of victories in the 100-yard butterfly (57.66) and 200-yard butterfly (2:09.08).

Senior Ashton Klopp claimed a victory in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.53 while her sister, senior Brette Klopp, was victorious in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.15.

Freshman Cecilia Langle added a win in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:23.31 while sophomore Leah Vander Roest picked up a win in the 3-meter dive with 167.92 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again next week when they host Notre Dame College at 1pm on Feb. 27.
