25 Oilers Earn All-Conference Honors

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams collected a plethora of awards from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) on April 8 as the league office unveiled their annual postseason honors.

On the men's side, Andrew Makepeace was tabbed the Coach of the Year while sophomore Tim Stollings was voted Swimmer of the Year. Daniel Garcia captured Freshman of the Year honors and senior Dalton Shevlin was voted the Diver of the Year.

Makepeace led the men's team to their fourth straight conference title as they racked up 1,525 points, 478 points better than second place Notre Dame College. He was named Coach of the Meet for his efforts and secured his fourth straight Coach of the Year accolade.

Stollings, who won a NCAA Division II national championship in the 100-yard butterfly and was named All-American in three events, had a hand in winning seven conference titles in 2021 while setting four G-MAC records. He won the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly, and 100-yard backstroke at the conference meet while teaming up to capture gold in the 200 and 400-yard medley relays and 400-yard freestyle relay.

Garcia contributed to six Findlay wins at the conference meet including the 200 and 400 individual medleys, the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes, and the 400 and 800-yard medley relays while Shevlin won the 1 and 3-meter dives. Garcia also captured Freshman of the Meet honors while Shevlin was voted the Diver of the Meet at the conference championship.

The men's team had 12 athletes earn all-conference accolades including all ten members on the first team. Stollings, Garcia, Shevlin, junior Paul Pavala, freshman Luca Chiandussi, freshman Aidan Shue, freshman Dags Bregis, senior Nathan Bourne, freshman Adam Hornak, and freshman Evan Patterson were all named first team while freshman Marko Priednieks and junior Jared Toaz captured second team all-conference honors.

On the women's side, sophomore Leah Vander Roest was tabbed the Diver of the Year and earned first team all-conference accolades after winning the 3-meter dive. She was joined on the first team by senior Ashton Klopp, junior Kristina Coleman, freshman Zoey Fedele, sophomore Rachel Poling, senior Brette Klopp, freshman Maria Argyropoulou, and senior Sarah Miles.

Freshman Cecilia Langle, sophomore Megan Irwin, and freshman Gracie Glaser all were tabbed second team all-conference while freshman Jessica Schelin and junior Erin Butler were named third team all-conference.
