Findlay Classic Comes to an End

Countless athletes from numerous collegiate athletic programs made their way to The University of Findlay's Malcolm Athletic Center for the second day of the Findlay Classic on Saturday, Jan. 30th.

Women

In the 60 meter hurdles, senior Maud Sanmiquel met the NCAA provisional and finished second with a time of 8.77.  Sophomore Milani Glass also participated in the race and earned third with an 8.98 run.

Glass also finished third in the triple jump after leaping 35'10.75".

Freshman Madison Stechshulte claimed first place in the 200 meter dash with a 25.62 mark.

In the 60 meter dash, Stechshulte finished third place with a time of 7.82 and freshman Symphony Cooke finished sixth at 8.07.

Sophomore Laura Hernandez also took home a first place finish as she completed the 400 meter dash in 57.92.

The 600 meter run featured another Oiler first place finish with senior Samantha Grippe clocking in at 1:36.32.

The 4x400 meter relay team featuring Glass, Sanmiquel, Grippe, and Hernandez claimed first place with a time of 3:57.40.

Senior Erica Bettac earned seventh place in the mile with a time of 5:30.78.

In the 3000 meter run, sophomore Taylor Bolinger received eighth place with a mark of 10:50.32.

In the shot put, junior Liz Streacker met the NCAA provisional mark after a 44'01.25" toss that earned her fifth place.  Freshman Holly Averesch recorded an eighth place finish after a 42'09.75" throw.

Men

Sophomore Sergi Torres met the NCAA provisional mark in the 400 meter run and took home first place after finishing at the 48.68 mark.  Freshman George Effah was second in the 400 at 50.25.

Senior Derek Spindler met the NCAA provisional in the pole vault and earned second place after he cleared 15'03.50".  Sophomore Michael Dolinar finished fifth after he vaulted to a height of 12'04.00".

Freshman Jaye Williams claimed seventh in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.08.

In the 200 meter dash, junior Maliik Briggs earned second place after finishing in 22.61.

The 4x400 meter team consisting of Briggs, junior Derek Collins, freshman Zach Jellison, and Torres finished in 3:21.27 to receive first place.

In the 600 meter run, freshman Troy Shultz claimed third place after a 1:24.82 finish.

Sophomore Matias Trampe-Kindt finished fourth in the mile run after coming in at the 4:26.19 mark.

Sophomore Trey Everett was a first place finisher in the long jumped after leaping 22'07.25" and freshman Jordan Davis finished ninth after a 19'04.75" jump.

In the triple jump, freshman Khalil Capers earned fifth place after jumping 39'05.75".

In the shot put, junior Ben Hahler met the NCAA provisional mark and finished second after a heave of 56'06.75".  Senior Parker Schroeder claimed seventh after a toss of 50'10.00".

The University of Findlay track and field teams return to action on Friday, Feb. 5th as some athletes will travel to New York, NY for the Armory Track Invitational and other athletes will travel to Ada, Ohio for the Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6th.
