Week 2 USTFCCA Polls Have Oilers in Top 25

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams are each in the top 25 in the Week 2, U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) polls.

Men

The Oilers men check in at #19 in this week's poll. That ranking is down two spots from last week. Findlay is one of five teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to be ranked in the top 25, the most of any conference in the country.

Sophomore Sergi Torres cracked into the top ten during last week's Findlay Classic with his 400 meter time of 47.92. That is the sixth fastest time in DII this season.

Sophomore Michael Bruce now holds the seventh best triple jump distance in DII this season following a leap of 49'3.75" at the Tiffin Dragon Open on Jan. 23.

The final top ten performance comes from junior Ben Hahler who, in the shot put, picked up a toss of 56'6.75". That is ninth best in the country this year.

Women

Senior Lydia Guagenti, who was yesterday named GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week, leads the women's team to a #12 ranking in this week's poll. It is the same ranking held by the Oilers last week.

Guagenti's best performance came in the high jump at the Findlay Classic where she leaped 5'8.5", the second best jump in DII this season. She is also a top ten performer in the pentathlon where, at the Findlay Classic, she totaled 3,595 points, which is the eighth best in the country.

Both teams will be competing again on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6 with some athletes headed to the Armory Track Invitational in New York City, New York and others competing at the Joe Banks Invitational in Ada, Ohio.
