Oilers Compete at Armory Track Invitational

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams traveled to the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, N.Y. for the Armory Track Invitational on February 5th.  Thousands of athletes from institutions across the nation competed at this invitational and most of the events featured over 50 athletes competing.

Women

In the 3000 meter run, sophomore Taylor Bolinger came in at 10:38.65 and placed 11th and freshman teammate Melanie Ruich finished right behind her at 10:42.24 to finish 12th.

In the 5000 meter run, senior Meredith Hoops clocked in at 18:51.07 to earn 30th.

In the shot put, junior Alex DeVincentis claimed 9th and met the NCAA provisional after a 47'05.25" heave, junior Liz Streacker placed 11th and met the NCAA provisional with a 44'11.75" toss, and freshman Holly Averesch earned 14th after a 42'00.75" throw.

Senior Lydia Guagenti competed in the long jump and placed 25th after leaping 17'08.25".

In the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles, senior Maud Sanmiquel placed 27th and met the NCAA provisional at the 8.76 mark to advance to the semifinals.  Sophomore Milani Glass also participated and finished 28th and met the NCAA provisional at the 8.80 mark.  In the semifinals Sanmiquel finished 26th with a time of 8.86.

Sophomore Laura Hernandez claimed 38th in the 400 meter dash and met the NCAA provisional after clocking in at the 57.84 mark.

In the prelims of the 60 meter dash, freshman Madison Stechshulte finished 37th with a time of 7.83.  The top 27 times advanced to the semifinals.

Men

In the long jump, two Oilers placed in the top four out of forty six athletes.  Senior Michael Bruce placed 3rd place and met the NCAA provisional after jumping 24'01.00" and junior Alexander Zolotoglavyy claimed 4th place and met the NCAA provisional after leaping 24'00.25".

The shot put also provided Oiler success.  Junior Ben Hahler finished 8th and met the NCAA provisional after a toss of 55'08.50" and senior Parker Schroeder claimed 14th after a heave of 48'03.50".

Junior Sergi Torres came in 13th and met the NCAA provisional in the 400 meter dash after finishing at the 48.70 mark, freshman George Effah finished right behind to meet the NCAA provisional at the 48.29 mark to earn 14th, junior Derek Collins placed 32nd at the 50.15 mark, junior Maliik Briggs received 45th at 50.65 and freshman Zach Jellison was 49th with a time of 50.87.

The University of Findlay track and field teams return to action Saturday, Feb. 6th for the second day of The Armory Invitational.  There will also be athletes competing in the Joe Banks Invitational in Ada, Ohio on Saturday, Feb 6th.
