Oilers Compete at Kent State Tune-Up

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams traveled to Kent State University on Saturday, Feb. 20th for the Kent State Tune-Up.

Women

In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Laura Hernandez finished 3rd and met the NCAA provisional mark after crossing the finish line with a time of 57.49.

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of senior Maud Sanmiquel, freshman Madison Stechshulte, senior Samantha Grippe, and Hernandez claimed 1st place with a time of 3:57.99.

Junior Torie Allgire placed 13th in the pole vault after clearing a height of 10'04.25".

In the 60 meter hurdles, Sanmiquel earned 3rd with a time of 8.94.

Freshman Symphony Cooke finished 28th with a time of 26.70 in the 200 meter dash.

In the 3000 meter run, senior Meredith Hoops claimed 12th after a time of 10:50.69.

Sophomore Claire Crum placed 34th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37.28 and senior McKenzie Mahlmeister finished 37th with a time of 2:38.46.

In the weight throw, junior Erica King finished 3rd and met the NCAA provisional mark after a toss of 59'10.25", junior Liz Streacker claimed 4th and provo'd with a heave of 58'06.00", and sophomore Alex DeVincentis earned 5th and provo'd after a throw of 58'05.25".

Streacker also claimed 2nd and met the NCAA provisional in the shot put with a toss of 45'07.00".  Freshman Holly Averesch placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 42'11.75".

Men

Senior Derek Spindler won the pole vault and met the NCAA provisional mark after vaulting to a height of 15'07.00".

In the high jump, sophomore Trey Everett met the NCAA provisional mark and finished 2nd after leaping to a height of 6'08.75".

Freshman George Effah claimed 6th in the 400 meter dash and met the NCAA provisional with a time of 48.54.

The 4x400 meter relay team featuring Effah, junior Derek Collins, freshman Zach Jellison, and sophomore Sergi Torres finished 2nd and met the NCAA provisional mark with a time of 3:16.90.

In the 200 meter dash, freshman Jaye Williams finished 16th at the 22.74 mark.

Freshman Troy Schultz earned 24th in the 800 meter run finishing at the 2:01.98 mark.

In the weight throw, freshman Austin Combs finished 2nd and met the NCAA provisional after a 60'00.05" toss, junior Ben Hahler earned 7th and provo'd with a throw of 56'08.75", and junior Mitch Adkins claimed 9th after a distance of 56'01.75".

Hahler also placed 4th and met the NCAA provisional mark in the shot put with a toss of 56'01.00".  Parker Schroeder placed 9th in the shot put with a throw of 51'01.75".

The Oilers travel to Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 27th and Sunday, Feb. 28th for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
