Oilers Wrap Up Busy Weekend

Philadelphia, PA | Ashland, OH – The University of Findlay track and field teams wrapped up a long weekend as they concluded a pair of meets on Saturday, April 30; the Penn Relays and the Ashland University Alumni Open.

Penn Relays (Results)

In the championship division of the triple jump competition, senior Michael Bruce took sixth place as he reached 51'5.75". That distance meets the provisional mark for the event.

Ashland Alumni Open (Results)

Women

Freshman Holly Averesch competed in the shot put and finished in third place with her second throw of the event. It measured 43'03.75". Sophomore Dawn Freeland also competed and took seventh with a toss of 41'08.75".

Men

The Oilers got a first place finish from freshman Austin Guthrie who missed his PR by five seconds and ultimately finished with a 10:32.89.

In the men's 5,000 meter run, freshman Michael Taylor earned himself a fifth place finish with a new personal record time of 16:07.90.

Junior Mitch Adkins competed in the shot put and wound up in eighth place. His best throw came on his second try where he reached a distance of 51'00.25". His best performance of the meet, however, came in the discus throw as he took second place with a throw of 151'01".
