Buckeye Tune Up Results

The University of Findlay track and field teams hosted the Findlay Meet for Everyone on Friday, February 17 in the Malcolm Athletic Complex and sent a pair of athletes to the Buckeye Tune-Up in Columbus, Ohio.

Men's Results

The 4x400 meter relay team took 1st place with a time of 3:21.24.

Sophomore Khalil Capers finished the 60 meter dash in 7.13 to earn 4th. Capers also competed in the long jump and placed 2nd with a distance of 6.51m.

Freshman Jon Anderson finished 6th in the mile run with a time of 4:36.33.

Freshman Ty Gleason earned 6th (9:22) and sophomore Austin Guthrie claimed 7th (9:28.94) in the 3000 meter run.

Junior Trey Everett captured 2nd in the high jump with a height of 2.01m.

Men's Throws

Senior Ben Hahler met the NCAA provisional mark in the shot put with a 2nd place toss of 17.78m.

Sophomore Austin Combs provo'd in the weight throw and claimed 2nd with a 19.55m heave.

Women's Results

In the 400 meter run, junior Semoy Hemmings placed 2nd with a time of 59:34.

Freshman Madisen Borer claimed 3rd in the 800 meter run at the 2:19.67 mark.

The 4x400 meter relay team finished in 4:04.73 to capture 1st place.

Senior Torie Allgire earned 3rd in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.25m.

Women's Throws

Five Oilers met the NCAA provisional mark in the shot put. Junior Alex DeVincentis claimed 3rd (14.04m), freshman Hannah Hahler earned 4th (13.70m), junior Tynelle Gumbs placed 5th (13.61m), sophomore Holly Averesch captured 6th (13.58m) and junior Trevia Gumbs finished 8th (13.48m).

In the weight throw two Oilers qualified for the NCAA National Championship. Ty. Gumbs claimed 1st with a toss of 19.98m. Tr. Gumbs earned 2nd with a throw of 19.48, which is currently the 7th best throw in NCAA Division II.

Findlay also had three other athletes meet the provisional mark in the weight throw. Senior Erica King placed 3rd (19.23m), senior Liz Streacker finished 5th (17.55m) and DeVincentis captured 8th (16.89m).

Women

Junior Milani Glass participated in the 60 meter hurdles at Ohio State and qualified for the finals with a preliminary time of 8.78, the fourth-fastest time of the prelims. She came back in the finals with an NCAA DII provisional time of 8.61, a career-best in that event. That time earned her a third place finish.

Men

Freshamn Lenell SHelby III ran in the 60 meter hurdles and qualified for the finals with a provisional time of 8.26, the fifth-fastest time of the qualifying round. He did not finish in the finals race.

The track and field teams return to competition on Saturday, February 18 when they travel to Kent State University for the Kent State Tune-Up. Running events are scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. and the field events begin at 10:00 a.m.
