Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay will play host to 14 teams for the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track and Field meet on Saturday and Sunday, February 24-25. The meet will take place at the Malcolm Athletic Center in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.
On the men's side, the most competitive field is in the weight throw where nine of the top ten throwers in the country this season will battle for the GLIAC crown. The field includes six athletes who participated in last season's national championship meet and includes the 2016 National Champion from Ashland, senior Jordan Crayon.
The men's shot put also has a loaded field as it includes six of the top ten throwers this season, including the top throw this season, a 62'10.5" from Tiffin's Coy Blair, and five national qualifiers from last season. The men's high jump includes three of the top ten jumpers this season while the men's 5,000m also includes three of the nation's top ten times.
One of the events to watch on the women's side will be the weight throw. It includes six of the nation's top ten throwers this season and 16 of the nation's top 40. There are eight athletes who competed at last year's national championship meet.
The women's shot put is another top event as it plays host to three of the top ten throws this season, four national qualifiers from last season, and three of the top four finishers in last year's GLIAC Championship.
Last season, Findlay's men finished the GLIAC meet in fifth as a team while the women finished in fourth place. Some of the Oilers' top ranked athletes heading into the event are:
