Track to Host Oiler Opener this Weekend

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams will begin their season on Dec. 8-9 when they host their annual Oiler Opener in the Malcolm Athletic Center, located inside the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.

The women's team is currently ranked sixth in the nation and will be paced by a talented group of throwers, led by an athlete who is looking to add more hardware to her trophy case.

Senior Alex DeVincentis, 2014 GLIAC Freshman of the Year and discus champion, is ranked in the top-10 nationally in two events. She is ranked fifth in the shot put at 15.31 meters and is also ranked ninth in the weight throw at 18.18 meters. She earned All-American honors in the shot put last year for Findlay as well.

The men are starting off the season ranked 14th in the nation. They will be led by junior Austin Combs, who is ranked second nationally in the weight throw at 20.44 meters. Combs was an All-American for the Oilers last year in the event.

Senior Trey Everett will also be back for the men. He was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) MVP in field events last year.
