Oilers Compete at the Youngstown State Collegiate Invite

Youngstown, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team competed in the Youngstown State University College Invite on Friday, January 17. 

Women

Freshman Lindsay Kluesner tied for first place in pole vault as she launched 3.80m into the air. Another Oiler placed high as freshman Morgan England got eighth place, with a high pole vault of 3.50m. 

In the long jump, freshman Simone Green got fifth place with a long jump of 5.66m. Another Oiler did well in the event as fellow Oiler freshman Carlee Siefker got eighth place, reaching out to 5.50m. Green also placed sixth in the triple jump, as she extended out 11.04m. 

The 4x400 'A' team got sixth place in the event with a time of 4:05.06. 

Junior highflyer Brooke Mangas tied for fourth place in the high jump, reaching the heights of 1.60m. 

In the weight throw event, senior Hannah Hahler got sixth place with a long throw of 16.64m. 

Senior Semoy Hemmings got eighth place in the 400 meter dash, bolting through the finish line at a time of 58.85. 

Men

Junior Sterling Mungro reached the provisional mark in the shot put, launching it to a first place finish with a long of 17.17m, which was 0.35m away from second place. Mungro also placed third in the weight throw, with a long of 19.32m, which was also long enough to reach the provisional mark. 

The Oiler men dominated the high jump event as they had three top five finishers, including Junior Emanuel Durden, who got first place in the event with a high jump of 2.12m, which is high enough for the provisional mark in the event. Freshman Cameron Stine tied for second place in the event with a jump of 2.04m, which is also high enough to meet the provisional mark. To add to that, freshman Keandre Marlow placed fifth in the event with a jump of 1.95m.

Sophomore Xavier Marable reached the provisional mark in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.37, while also getting first place in the event. Freshman Nick Rice got 10th place in the event with a time of 50.29. 

The 4x400 team got second place with a time of 3:21.32. 

Sophomore Justin Dreyling had a good day of competing as he got third place in two different events: long jump, 7.08m, and the triple jump, 13.97m. In the triple jump, freshman Chris Cooper placed fifth with a jump of 13.80m. 

In the pole vault, sophomore Ryan Stevens tied for fourth place, reaching the heights of 4.72m. 

The Oilers next meet will take place on Saturday, January 25, as they will compete in the Jet's Pizza Invitational at the University Center in Michigan.
