Oilers Wrap Up Competition at National Open

University Park, Pa. - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team wrapped up their competition in day two of the national open at Penn State University on Saturday, February 1.

Women

Senior Hannah Hahler took 10th place in the shot put, launching a throw out to 14.37m.

In the triple jump, freshman Simone Green took 13th place with a long jump of 5.55m. 

Men

Sophomore Xavier Marable sealed an automatic bid into the NCAA championships as took second place with a time of 46.91 in the 400 meter dash. That time also establishes a new school and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) record, breaking George Effah's time of 47.01 set in 2018.

In the high jump event, junior Emanuel Durden took tied for fourth place with a high jump of 2.06m, which is high enough for the provisional mark. Freshman Cameron Stine tied for tenth place with a high jump of 2.01m. 

In the long jump, junior Martin Etsey tied for eighth place, extending out to 7.01m. Sophomore Justin Dreyling extended out to 6.85m, which was good enough for 13th place. 

Freshman Josh Verhoff zoomed through the finish line with a time of 22.09 in the 200 meter dash, which placed him 9th in the event. 

In shot put, senior Javian Martin got 15th place with a long of 15.68m. 

The 4x400 team took sixth place with a time of 3:18.48. 

The Oilers next competition will take place at Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday, February 8 as they will compete in the Dragon Invite.
