Oilers Post Big Marks at Dragon Grand Prix
Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team competed in the Dragon Grand Prix meet on Saturday, February 8.
Women
In the pole vault, freshman Lindsay Kluesner earned herself a first place finish, with the fifth highest vault in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) history, reaching a height of 3.91m (12 feet-10.00 inches). That effort ranks ninth nationally and establishes a new school record, breaking the old mark of 12-7.00, which was set by Morgan England in 2019. Sophomore Meadow Cromer took third place, as she reached the height of 3.86m (12-8.00), which is the sixth highest in G-MAC history. That height also eclipsed the old school record and ranks 13th nationally. Cromer's height also earned a provisional mark in the event. Freshman Morgan England tied for fourth place in the pole vault reaching a height of 3.56m (11-8.00).
Senior Hannah Hahler earned second place in the women's shot put, launching a throw of 14.75m (48-4.75), which earns her a provisional mark in the event. That throw also sets a new personal best of in the event and ranks her seventh in the country. Freshman Paige Emnett earned fourth place in the event with a throw of 13.43m (44-0.75).
Hahler also dominated the weight throw with a throw of 16.58m (54-4.00), earning her first place. Freshman Brynlee Hanneman took seventh place in the event with a throw of 15.05m (49-4.00), and Emnett rounded out the top ten with a throw of 13.93m (45-8.00).
The Oilers took first and second place in the long jump, as freshman Simone Green leapt to a distance of 5.60m (18-4.50), while freshman Carlee Siefker reach 5.44m (17-10.25).
Green added a third place finish in the 200 meter dash to her day, clocking in at 26.19. Freshman Bethany Smith took fourth place with a time of 26.86. And senior Aubreah Manns rounded out the top eight in the event, as she finished with a time of 27.12.
In the women's high jump, sophomore Brooke Mangas cleared the bar at 1.66m (5-5.25), which gave her a tie for third place finish in the event, missing the provisional mark by just two-hundredths of a meter.
The Oilers had lots of top finishers in the 400 meter dash, as sophomore Haylee Robinett took fifth place with a time of 1:03.43, freshman Rylee Sybert took seventh with a time of 1:04.21, sophomore Kaely Pean took eighth with a time of 1:04.65, and right behind her was freshman Kenedi Hayden, who took ninth place with a 1:04.68 time.
In the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore Carlee McCluer took fifth place, as she bolted through the finish line in 9.82 seconds.
Men
Freshman Cameron Stine reached the provisional mark in the high jump, reaching a height of 2.04m (6-8.25), which gave him first place overall in the event. Fellow freshman Chris Cooper tied for second place with a high jump of 1.99m (6-6.25), and freshman Keandre Marlow tied for fourth place with a high of 1.94m (6-4.25).
Junior Sterling Mungro, who already owns the eighth-best throw in the nation this season, had the 11th best throw in the country in the weight throw and took first place in the event with a throw that measured 19.59m (64-3.25). He also placed fifth in the shot put, launching a high throw of 16.75m (54-11.50), also a provisional throw. Senior Javien Martin took third in the weight throw with a provisional qualifying throw of 18.04m (59-2.25) and got eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 16.18m (53-1.00). Junior Austin Burkhart (14.68m - 48-2.00) and sophomore Max Prenger (14.08m - 46-2.50) took 11th and 12th place in the shot put, respectively. Prenger also competed in the weight throw where he took sixth with a mark of 16.92m (55-6.25).
Sophomore Ryan Stevens cleared the NCAA provisional height in the pole vault, reaching 4.78m (15-8.25). That height was good enough to win the event. Junior teammate Nathan Bedel took third place in the event, crossing the bar at a height of 4.63m (15-2.25).
In the 800 meter dash, junior Daniel Agbola took third place, crossing the line in 2:00.57. Not far behind was freshman Tristin Freistuhler who took seventh place with a time of 2:01.14. Freshman Ethan Adams earned himself a tenth place finish with a time of 2:02.18.
In the long jump, sophomore Justin Dreyling earned himself a third place finish as he extended out 6.77m (22-2.50).
Sophomore Josh Steinbrunner clocked in at 8.41 in the 60 meter hurdles, which was good enough to earn himself a fifth place finish.
Freshman Michael Nichols got sixth place in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.12. To go along with that, Nichols added a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash, sprinting through the finish line in 23.07.
In the 400 meter dash, senior Gavin Stepansky took seventh place, dashing through the finish line with a time of 52.79.
The Oilers next contest will take place on Saturday, February 15 as they will host the Findlay Alumni Classic.
