Orange and Black Performs Well at Findlay Alumni Classic

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team competed in the Findlay Alumni Classic on Saturday, February 15. 

Women

In the women's long jump, freshman Simone Green took first place with a provisional qualifying jump of 5.77m (18 feet - 11.25 inches), which is now tied for the 14th best spot in the nation. Freshman Carlee Siefker earned herself a fifth place finish in the event, as she extended out to 5.43m (17-9.75). 

Green also finished first place in the triple jump, as she finished at 10.94m (35-10.75). Siefker took seventh place with a leap of 10.38m (34-0.75) in the event as well.

In the pole vault, freshman Lindsey Kluesener took first place with a mark of 3.92m (12-10.25), which is a new provisional high for her. Freshman Morgan England and sophomore Meadow Cromer both reached the provisional mark in the event as well as the got up to 3.62m (11-10.50), which tied them for fourth place in the event. 

In the 3000 meter run, sophomore Gabrielle Lawrence earned herself a first place finish as she finished with an impressive time of 10:26.32 while freshman Bethany Smith took second place in the 400 meter at 59.21 and Aubreah Manns was fourth at 1:00.20 in the same event.

Senior Hannah Hahler earned third place in the shot put, reaching the provisional mark at 14.31m (46-11.50). Hahler added a sixth place finish in the weight throw at 16.42m (53-10.50). 

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of sophomore Hayley Robinett, freshman Rylee Sybert, freshman Kenedi Hayden, and sophomore London Moening earned themselves a third place finish in the event, finishing with a time of 4:15.90. 

In the high jump, freshman Alexa Fries and junior Brooke Mangas tied for fourth place as they both reached the heights of 1.62m (5-3.75) while Robinett took fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.27.

Men

Freshman Josh Verhoff won the 200 meter dash and reached the provisional mark with a time of 21.97 seconds, which translates to a time of 21.63 because he ran on a flat 200 meter track. His time ranks 22nd in the nation. He also won the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.92.

In the 800 meter run, junior Daniel Agbola claimed a first place victory by 0.08 seconds, as he crossed the finish line at 1:58.42. Sophomore Justin Dreyling added a first place finish in the long jump at 6.87m (22-6.50) while junior Martin Etsey won the triple jump at 15.21m (49-11.00). Dreyling also claimed second in the event at 14.32m (46-11.75).

In the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore Josh Steinbrunner scored a second place finish at 8.34 while sophomore Lane Kolb was second in the 400 meter dash at 50.51. freshman Nick Rice took fourth in the event at 51.57. as he zoomed through the finish in 8.34 seconds.

Freshman Cameron Stine reached the provisional mark in the high jump as he got over the bar at 2.04m (6-8.25). Freshman Keandre Marlow tied for fifth place with a high jump of 1.94m (6-4.25), and freshman Chris Cooper took seventh place at 1.89m (6-2.25). 

Sophomore Ryan Stevens reached the provisional mark in the pole vault as he vaulted as high as 4.80m (15-9.00), which tied him for fourth overall in the event.

In the weight throw, junior Sterling Mungro took fourth place with a throw of 19.35m (63-6.00), which earned him a provisional mark in the event. The Oilers also took fourth and fifth place in the men's one mile run as Ethan Adams came in at a time of 4:36.61, and freshman Tristin Freistuhler clocked in at 4:36.73. 

The team will be back in action on Saturday, February 22 as they will host the Flag City Open.
