Oilers Compete at Tiffin Dragon Invite

Tiffin, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams, both ranked nationally in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll, traveled down the road to Tiffin, Ohio for the Tiffin Dragon Invite on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Men (Ranked 12th in the country)

Junior Sterling Mungro won the weight throw in convincing fashion, taking top spot when his third attempt traveled a distance of 20.84m (68'4"), an NCAA provisional throw. The toss was just five inches shy of the NCAA automatic qualifier, although Mugro has already qualified in the event with a throw from early December. Junior Max Prenger took fourth in the event with a toss of 17.19m (58'9"). Mungro also competed in the shot put where he finished third with a throw of 16.27m (53'4.5"). Prenger took fourth at 14.95m (49'0.75") and freshman Hunter Tresnan-Rieghard was fifth with a 14.45m (47'5").

Sophomore Chris Cooper earned a second place finish in the men's heptathlon, finishing with 4,193 points, a new career-best. His top events were first place finishes in the 60m dash (7.19), the high jump (2.00m | 6'6.75"), and the 60m hurdles (8.89).

The Oilers 4x400m relay team took runner-up as sophomore Josh Verhoff, freshman Isaac Webb, sophomore Ethan Pensante, and junior Lane Kolb crossed the line in a time of 3:32.29.

In men's high jump action, sophomore Cameron Stine took third with a jump of 1.96m (6'5") while senior Emanuel Durden reached a height of 1.91m (6'3.25").

Junior Gabe Makin took third place in the pole vault at a height of 4.70m (15'5") while freshman Alex Mutchler took fourth, also finishing with a height of 4.70m.

Senior Jack Adams took third place in the one mile run with a time of 4:30.85 while senior Daniel Agbola took third in the men's 800m with a time of 2:02.52.

Women (Ranked 20th in the country)

One of Findlay's strongest events is the women's pole vault and that proved true again Saturday as three Oilers earned provisional marks. Sophomore Lindsey Kluesener took first place in the event as she, on her first attempt, cleared a height of 3.96m (12'11.75") which is tied for seventh in the country this season. Sophomore teammate Morgan England also reached a height of 3.96m, but did so on her second attempt, giving her a third place finish. Junior Meadow Cromer took fifth with Findlay's final provisional qualifier in the event, clearing a height of 3.71m (12'2").

The Oilers women also had a strong showing in the one mile run as sophomore Morgan Gaskins took first place honors with a time of 5:30.00 and freshman Maya Hamsher finished second, crossing the lin in 5:40.41.

Sophomore Paige Emnett took runner-up honors in the women's weight throw as her third attempt sailed 15.94m (52'3.75"). Sophomore Brynlee Hanneman took sixth with a throw of 14.14m (46'4.75"). Emnett also earned a runner-up finish in the shot put when her third throw measured 13.03m (42'9") while Hanneman took seventh with a 11.22m (36'9.75").

In other field event action, Findlay sophomore Simone Green took first place in the triple jump with a career-best distance of 11.73m (38'6"). She also earned a second place finish in the long jump as her jump covered 5.76m (18'10.75"). That effort was good enough for an NCAA provisional and is 12th-best in the country this season. Finishing second in the triple jump was freshman Madison Myers who distanced 10.33m (33'10.75"). Myers took third in the long jump at 5.32m (17'5.5").\

Sophomore Carlee Siefker finished in third in the pentathlon with a career-best 2,852 points while freshman Maddie Alexander took third, also setting a career mark with 2,724 points. Siefker took first in the shot put portion of the event with a throw of 11.40m (37'5") and was runner-up in the long jump at 5.02m (16'5.75"). Alexander was runner-up in both the 60m hurdles (9.51) and the high jump (1.53m | 5'0.25")

Freshman Alex Jacobs, senior Jenna Shipman, freshman Cassidy Baran, and sophomore Bethany Smith took first in the 4x400m relay as they finished with a time of 4:03.77, 13 seconds ahead of the second place team.

Sophomore Meghan Donoher was third in the 800m run with a time of 2:28.94 while junior London Moening took fourth with a 2:29.50.

Findlay is back in action as they are scheduled to host a dual meet this coming Saturday, February 13.
