Oilers Combine for Solid day at Oakland University

Rochester, MI- The University of Findlay Men's and Women's Track and Field teams sent 20 athletes to compete in the Oakland Last Chance hosted at Oakland University on Thursday May 12. This is part of a sting of meets for the Oilers before heading out to the National Championship in Allendale, MI. 

Men- 

The Oilers took 2nd in the 4x100 when the team of sophomore Hassan Sesay, senior Ethan Pensante, freshman Dylan Reason, and junior Josh Verhoff finished with a time of 41.11. Josh Verhoff would take 1st in the 200-meter, finishing with a time of 21.37 seconds. Senior Martin Etsey took 2nd place in the triple jump clearing 45 feet 2 ½ inches. Senior Gabe Makin captured a 3rd place finish in the pole vault clearing a height of 16 feet 4 ¾ inches, which met the NCAA provisional standard. Sophomore Alex Mutchler followed closely behind with a height of 15 feet 9 inches to earn a 5th place finish. 

Women- 

The 4x100 team of freshmen Nicole Fishpaw, freshmen Taylor Ivory, sophomore Jordan Taylor, and senior Michaela Butler took 2nd place with a time of 46.96 seconds. Freshmen Kylie Ray took 1st place in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:00.77 which also met an NCAA provisional standard. Senior Savannah Amato finished 3rd in the high jump clearing 4.14 meters (13 feet 7 inches). Michaela Butler also took 3rd in the 100-meter with a finishing time of 12.1 seconds. Junior Simone Green jumped 39 feet and 6 ¾ inches, which met the NCAA provisional standard, to bring home a 1st place finish. Green would also finish first in the long jump, jumping 19 feet and 2 inches, and met the NCAA provisional standard.  

The Oilers will be back in action on Friday May 13 when they travel to Berea, OH for the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet.
