Oilers Conclude NCAA Championship | Five Earn All-American Honors

Allendale, Michigan- The University of Findlay men's and women's track team completed the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championship today, May 28. Competing for the Oilers on the final day were senior Meadow Cromer, senior Savannah Amato, freshman Trista Fintel and junior Paige Emnett.

Representing the Oilers in the pole vault were Savannah Amato and Meadow Cromer. After being dominant all season, Amato was seeded third and Cromer was seeded twenty-second entering the event. Amato finished the event in sixth with a clearance of 4.15m. She failed in her three attempts at 4.25m which was ultimately good enough to win the event for Grand Valley's Ellianne Kimes. Amato's performance led her to all-American honors. Cromer took eleventh with a mark of 3.95m.

Continuing for the Oilers on the field were Trista Fintel and Paige Emnett in the shot put. Fintel and Emnett were seeded eleventh and twelfth respectively entering the event. Emnett had throws of 15.24m, 15.22m, 14.85m, 15.16m, before her furthest throw of 15.55m coming on her fifth attempt. Her third place performance earns her all-American honors. Following Emnett, Fintel came in eighth with a throw of 14.74m which came on her sixth attempt.  

Rounding out the event for the Oilers was senior Hannah Thompson in the 5K. She was seeded fifteenth entering the event. With a time of 16:48.55, Thompson took twelfth in the event which earns her second team all-American.

The Oilers concluded the NCAA Division II National Championship, bringing home five all-American trophies. This concludes their season.
