Oilers To Host Notre Dame (OH) and Tusculum This Week

The University of Findlay women's basketball team will host Notre Dame (Ohio) College on Wednesday, November 16.  The non-conference contest is scheduled to begin at 7 pm in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers will also be at home on Saturday, November 19 to host Tusculum College at 1 pm in Croy Gymnasium.

The University of Findlay will also broadcast all of their home basketball games on America One.  The games can be viewed on your computer for a small fee by visiting the American One website at the following address:

The Series

The Oilers currently lead the all-time series against Notre Dame by a 9-2 margin dating back to the 1990-91 campaign when the Falcons came out on top by a score 58-56.

 

Last season, Findlay defeated Notre Dame 70-64 behind 19 points from Clare Aubry.

Aubry also tallied eight rebounds and five assists while hitting 8-of-11 shots from the field.

Laura Bardall also had a fantastic game for Findlay with 17 points, ten rebounds, two assists and a block while Carlay Stahl stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks.

Kayla Brown reached double figures with ten points and seven rebounds.

As a team, the Oilers shot 54.9 percent (28-of-51) from the floor to off-set their 25 turnovers.

The Oilers have never played Tusculum on the hardwood before.

Notre Dame College

Notre Dame enters this contest with a 0-1 record after falling 51-37 to Lemoyne (New York) last Saturday.

The Falcons were led by freshman guard Martha Nagbe. The Lakewood, Ohio, native led all players with eight points and nine rebounds. She also provided three steals in 24 minutes of action off the bench.

Junior guard Lauren Macer had six points and a game-high five steals.

Tusculum College

Tusculum will open their season against Findlay.

Last year, the Pioneers finished with a 21-9 overall record and qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Kendal Baxter is their top returning players and averaged 8.8 points per game last year.

A Stellar Debut

Freshman forward Lacey Kessler stuffed the stat sheet in her first collegiate game, scoring 12 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.  She also hit 8-of-9 shots from the free throw line in the Oilers 73-61 win over Slippery Rock on November 11.

Riding the Bench

The Oilers got stellar production from their bench in a 73-61 win over Slippery Rock on November 11.  The Oilers bench contributed 37 points as sophomore guard Saira House and freshman forward Lacey Kessler broke into double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Junior forward Tai Dotson added seven points and five rebounds off the bench as well for Findlay.

GLIAC Preseason Poll

The Oilers were picked to finish second in the South Division of the GLIAC this season.  They received 152 votes and ten first place votes, to fall just short of Ashland University (153) in the poll.

Preseason All-GLIAC

Senior guards Laura Bardall and Clare Aubry were both picked as preseason first team all-conference in voting conducted by the coaches within the league.

Bardall was a first team all-conference pick last season after averaging 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. 

Aubry meanwhile was a second team all-league pick as a junior and averaged 15.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

1,000 Point Club

Senior guard Laura Bardall ranks eighth all-time at Findlay with 1,262 career points.

Bardall was injured in the Oilers exhibition game against Bowling Green State University and will not have a chance to build on her total this year.
