Oilers Win 3rd Straight, Claim 67-55 Win Over Malone

The University of Findlay women's basketball team defeated Malone University on Saturday, Jan. 26 by a score of 67-55 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers, who improved to 14-4 on the year with an 11-3 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), shot 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the floor and canned 9-of-24 (37.5%) shots from behind the three point line.  They also forced the Pioneers into 32 turnovers, which led to 18 steals and 29 points for the Oilers.

Senior forward Kayla Brown led the team with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting.  She also tied a career-high with six steals and added three rebounds and three assists.

Junior guard Karli Beasley added nine points while junior forward Kaleigh Kenny and senior forward Tai Dotson scored eight points apiece.

Senior guard Laura Piehl and freshman guard Alyssa Grevenkamp came off the bench to score seven points apiece while junior guard Ashley Andrews had seven points, four steals, three assists and a pair of rebounds.

The Pioneers, who shot 44 percent (22-of-50) from the floor, were led by Sydnee Penn's 16 points.

Logan Pastor added four points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

The Oilers will now prepare to battle Hillsdale College next Saturday in Hillsdale, Mich.
