Oilers Run Past Lake Superior, Win 88-72

The University of Findlay women's basketball team defeated Lake Superior State University by a score of 88-72 on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.  The victory gives the Oilers a 3-0 record on the season with a 1-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the floor and connected on 36.4 percent (8-of-22) of their three point attempts in the win.  They also forced 20 turnovers and recorded 21 assists in the game.

Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker led four Findlay players in double figures with a career-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

Junior guard Nikki Gunning came off the bench to provide 14 points, three rebounds and three assists while senior guard Ashley Andrews and junior guard Kristin Klausing registered 11 points apiece.

Junior guard Ciara Geiger added nine points while senior forward Kaleigh Kenny, senior guard Karli Beasley and sophomore forward Kelsey Lewis had six points apiece in the victory.

Lewis also added a team-high five boards while Beasley recorded two steals.

Raven Trammell led the Lakers with 21 points and seven boards off the bench.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they face Northwood University at 1 p.m. in Midland, Mich.
