#10 Warriors Defeat Oilers 93-70

The University of Findlay women's basketball team lost 93-70 to 10th-ranked Wayne State University on Feb. 2 in Detroit, Mich. The loss gives the Oilers an 11-8 record on the year with a 7-8 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers only trailed by two at 39-37 when the first half buzzer sounded, but the Warriors took control in the second half as they out-scored Findlay by a 54-33 margin.

The Oilers shot a mere 30.2 percent (19-of-63) from the floor while the Warriors hit a blistering 61 percent (35-of-59) of their field goal tries. Findlay forced 22 turnovers in the game, but the Warriors had it dialed in from long distance, hitting 11-of-15 (73.3%) tries from three point land.

Senior guard Ciara Geiger paced the Oilers with 17 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Senior forward Lacey Kessler came off the bench to provide 14 points and five rebounds while junior forward Kelsey Lewis also reached double figures with ten points to go along with five boards.

Junior forward Margaret Wuebker, freshman guard Emily Molnar and senior guard Nikki Gunning each scored six points apiece as well.

The Warriors were led by Des Lavita-Stephens'25 points while Shareta Brown recorded a triple-double with 24 points, 16 rebounds and ten assists. She also added five steals and a block in the game.

The Oilers will return home to host Ohio Dominican University on Thursday. The game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
