Findlay Downs Embry-Riddle

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - The University of Findlay women's basketball team has improved their record to 9-1 following a 65-42 victory on Friday, Dec. 18. The win over Embry-Riddle is the Oilers' final game in Ft. Lauderdale. Findlay has now won six straight contests and has the most wins of any team in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) so far this season.

The Oilers only trailed once in the game, 2-0 at the 8:04 mark in the first quarter. After that point, Findlay never looked back as they surged to a 13-point halftime lead (38-25) and ultimately a 23-point victory.

The Orange and Black played some of their best defense of the year as they held the Eagles to 24.1% (13-54) from the field and forced 20 turnovers. The 42 points allowed are tied for the lowest the Oilers have allowed this season.

Bench points were also a major factor in this game as Findlay received a 40-point effort from its non-starters. Leading that group was sophomore Lynsey Englebrecht who hit a trio of three-point shots in four attempts, giving her nine points in the contest. This is the second game in a row in which Englebrecht has connected three times from deep.

The only Oilers player to reach double-figures was sophomore Haley Horstman. She scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds.

Senior Margaret Wuebker dropped seven points while senior Kelsey Lewis scored six. Lewis also collected nine rebounds. Freshman Anna Hintz scored six points and had six rebounds.

Findlay's next game will be on the road as they travel to Big Rapids, Michigan for a GLIAC matchup with Ferris State. That game will be on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 1:00pm.
