Findlay, OH – Findlay will travel to Ashland University to take on the Eagles on Thursday, Feb. 11. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m. They then head to Painesville to play Lake Erie on Saturday. That game will start at 1:00 p.m.

Series Information

The game vs. Ashland will be the 44th meeting between these two schools. Including their initial meeting in the 1990-91 season, a 58-42 Ashland win, the Oilers have posted a 17-26 record against the Eagles.

In their first game on Jan. 21, undefeated and ranked #4 in the country, Ashland took down the Oilers in Croy, 78-69.

The Oilers received a strong performance from junior Karli Bonar who hit 6-of-10 from behind the arc. Bonar, who scored 10 of her points in the first quarter, finished the game with 19 points and three assists.

In games against Lake Erie College, the Oilers are 16-2 as this will be the 19th meeting between the two. Their first matchup came in the 1988-89, a game in which Findlay had no problem scoring as they took down the storm 105-54.

On Jan. 23, the Oilers lost to Lake Erie 73-64. The only player for Findlay to reach double-figures was junior Karli Bonar, who dropped 11. She hit a trio of 3's. Freshman Anna Hintz had six points and a career-high with 11 rebounds.

The Oilers enter the game with a 14-9 record overall and a 9-8 record in GLIAC play.

Findlay is first in the GLIAC, shooting 39.8% from deep and are third with a 45.3 field goal percentage.

The Oilers are led in scoring by sophomore Haley Horstman who is scoring 12.4 points per game while senior Margaret Wuebker has surged to 12.0 points per game. Junior Karli Bonar is also averaging double-figures with 10.6 per contest.

Freshman Anna Hintz' 6.1 rebounds per game lead the team while Wuebker's 5.9 rebounds are second.

#6 Ashland

The Eagles enter the game with a 22-1 record overall and a 16-1 record in GLIAC play and boast a #6 national ranking.

The best scoring team in the GLIAC at 77.0 points per game, Ashland's only loss came on Feb. 4, a 69-58 loss to Walsh. The Eagles have 10 wins that have been by 20 points or more.

As the best team in the GLIAC, the Eagles are leading the conference in multiple statistics: points (1770), points per game (77.0), FG made per game (29.4), FG% (47.2), and assists per game (19.6).

Sophomore Andi Daugherty and sophomore Laina Snyder are the two leading scorers for Ashland as they are netting 15.6 and 14.7 points per game, respectively. Senior McKenzie Miller is scoring 9.9. Daugherty and Snyder are each shooting above 50% on the year.

Snyder is the team's best rebounder at 9.0 boards per game while Daugherty is pulling in 7.4 per game. Snyder's 74 steals this season are the most in the GLIAC while her rebounds are good for fifth in the conference.

Lake Erie

The Storm enter the week with a 7-16 record overall and a 4-13 mark in GLIAC play.

As a team, Lake Erie leads the GLIAC in steals per game with 11.1.

They are led by sophomore Kayla Gabor who is scoring 14.6 points per game with a field goal percentage of 42.4. No other Storm player is averaging double-figures.

Gabor is also the team's leading rebounder with 4.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore Christine Dawson is second on the team with 4.6 while freshman Daija Jones has 4.1 rebounds per game.

Bombs Away

Junior guard Karli Bonar has made 197 career three pointers at Findlay, the third best mark in school history. She is chasing former UF star Maggie Gompers for second place on the all-time list. Gompers canned 206 three pointers for the Oilers from 2007-10.

Bonar has made four or more threes in eight of the Oilers games this season. Her season high was Jan. 21 vs. Ashland when she nailed six from deep. This season, Bonar has connected on 66 shots from deep, just five shy of the UF record of 71 that she set last season.

Moving On Up 

Senior forward Margaret Wuebker became the Oilers 20th member of the 1,000-point club on Feb. 1 when she poured in 25 points in Findlay's 87-80 win against Wayne State. Wuebker ranks 20th all-time at UF with 1,037 career points. She is chasing Lori Trenkamp and Michelle Vorst for 18th and 17th place on the Oilers all-time scoring list. Trenkamp scored 1,040 points for Findlay from 1992-95 while Vorst scored 1,046 from 2003-06.

Stroking 3's: The Oilers are hitting 39.8 percent of their three point tries this season, the best percentage in the GLIAC and the seventh best percentage in the nation. They have been led by sophomore guard Lynsey Englebrecht, who is hitting 53.0 percent of her long range attempts. The percentage is the best mark in the GLIAC. Karli Bonar is fifth in the league as she is hitting on 42.0 percent of her tries from deep.

Charity Stripe

Since the start of the new year, Findlay has been on fire from the free-throw line. In the ten games in 2016, the Oilers have hit 115-of-143 for 80%.

Sophomore Haley Horstman has nailed 40-of-48 from the line for 83.3%, good for ninth in the GLIAC.
