Oilers Picked to Finish 3rd

The University of Findlay women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) this year as the league office unveiled their preseason coaches poll on Oct. 19.

The Oilers received 101 points and two first place votes in the poll. They trailed Ursuline, who was picked to win the conference with 115 points and two first place votes, and Cedarville, who had 109 points and a league-high three first place votes.

The Oilers women's basketball team finished last season with a 13-15 record and will return their top-four scorers from a year ago.

Senior guard Haley Horstman is back after averaging a team-high 9.6 points per contest while junior center Christa Puthoff returns after posting 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Senior guard Lynsey Englebrecht posted 9.1 points and shot 41.2 percent (61-of-148) from three point range while junior forward Anna Hintz stuffed the stat sheet with averages of 8.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
