Oilers Defeat Dragons 81-75

The University of Findlay women's basketball team moved to 2-1 on the season with an 81-75 win over Tiffin University on Dec. 11 in Niekamp Arena.

The Oilers scorched the nets in the victory as they hit 59.0 percent (23-of-39) of their shot attempts, which included a 9-of-15 (60%) showing from behind the three point line. They also came away with 12 steals and limited the Dragons to a 37.9 percent (25-of-66) shooting clip.

Junior forward Bridget Landin led the Oilers with 24 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two assists, and two steals while junior guard Amber Schweiger recorded a career-high 23 points to go along with eight assists, six steals, and two blocks. Her total established a new career-best as well.

Junior forward Sydney Kin also reached double figures with 12 points to go along with six rebounds while senior guard Allison Utterback nearly reached double figures with nine points.

The Dragons were led by Savanah Richards' 18 points. Aarion Nichols scored 15 while Kirsten Williams had 12.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Dec. 17 when they host Ursuline College at 5:30 p.m.
