Schambs Leads Oilers to 4th Place Finish

The University of Findlay women's golf team placed fourth at the Indianapolis Invitational, which concluded on Monday, Sept. 23 at Heartland Crossing in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Oilers shot a two-round score of 621 (310, 311), six shots off Ferris State, who won the tournament with a score of 615 (307, 308).

Michele Schambs led the way and ended the tournament in third place.  Schambs shot an 81 in the first round and then fired a two-under par score of 70 in the second for a score of 151.  Her two-under par score of 70 in the final round was the second lowest score in the history of women's golf at Findlay.

Brooke Albers and Shelby Warner also recorded top-20 finishes for the Oilers in the field of 105 golfers.

Albers tied for 12th with a 154 (75, 79) while Warner tied for 19th with a 156 (75, 81).

Kasey Petty (79, 81 – 160), Hannah Schneider (90, 88 – 178) and Taylor Tweed (92, 89 – 181) also competed for Findlay at the tournament.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Sept. 28-29 at the Grand Valley State Invitational.  The tournament will be played at the Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich.
