Schambs Tied for 1st at GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay women's golf team is currently playing host to the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Golf Tournament. The event will run from Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26. After the first round of competition, the Oilers sit in second place as a team with a score of 312, just five shots off the lead, held by Grand Valley State University.

Senior Michele Schambs led the way for the host school as she carded an even-par 72. Her round included a pair of birdies; holes three (339 yd., par 4) and 14 (331 yd. par 4). She sits atop the leader board as she is tied with GVSU's Gabrielle Shipley and will tee-off tomorrow at 1:30 pm on hole one.

Junior Kasey Petty turned in a solid round as well and finished the first day of competition in a tie for fourth place with a 77. She will tee-off tomorrow at 1:20 pm on the first hole.

Freshman Kelsey Koesters carded an 80 on the first day and is tied for 14th while sophomore Shelby Warner posted an 83, which is good for 23rd at the tournament. Warner will begin her second round at 1 pm tomorrow while Koesters will go off at 1:10 pm.

Junior Hannah Schneider also competed for Findlay on day one and turned in an 87. She will kick off the second round at 12:50 pm tomorrow for the Oilers.
