Nation's Best Compete at UIndy Invitational

Carmel, IN - The University of Findlay women's golf team traveled to Indiana for the Indianapolis Fall Invitational, which is being held at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. After the first round, which was played on Monday, Sep. 14, the Oilers are in a tie for sixth, in a field of 16 teams, having posted a team score of 318. Of those 16 teams, 14 are ranked in the top 10, and two are regional number ones. The host, University of Indianapolis, is the defending national champion.

The individual field in this event is comprised of 90 competitors.

Senior Kasey Petty carded the lowest number for Findlay as she shot a three-over, 75 on the day. That score places her in a tie for 6th place.

Close behind was freshman Samantha Hatter, who ended the day in a tie for 16th after shooting a six-over, 78.

Junior Shelby Warner was a top-40 finisher as she ended the day in a tie for 35th with an 81 while freshman Makenzie Torres came in with an 84, placing her in a tie for 58th.

Rounding out the scoring for the Oilers was freshman Mikaela Hickey, whose 87 placed her in 71st.

Competing individually was sophomore Kelsey Koesters who finsihed her round in 80th place having shot a 91.

The invitational will conclude tomorrow, Tuesday, Sep. 15.
