The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up the Cav Classic on April 17 at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. The Oilers finished the event in second place after posting a 36-hole score of 614 (310, 304).

The Oilers score of 614 is the third-best total in school history and the team was led by senior Kasey Petty, who finished second with an even-par score of 144. Her 144 tied her own school record for the lowest 36-hole score in program history.

Petty, who fired a 4-under par score of 68 in the opening round to establish a new school record, shot a 76 on day two for her total.

Freshman Makenzie Torres also had a stellar tournament and finished right behind Petty in third place. Torres shot a 149 at the tournament for her placing. She carded a 78 in the opening round yesterday and then came back with a 1-under par score of 71 in the second round. Her 71 marked only the eighth time an Oilers golfer had ever shot an under par score in a round.

Junior Shelby Warner tied for 20th with a score of 161 (83, 78) while freshman Samantha Hatter placed 24th with a score of 162 (83, 78).

Sophomore Kelsey Koesters tied for 35th with a 36-hole score of 168 (81, 87), senior Hannah Schneider finished in a tie for 42nd with a 171 (81, 90) and freshman Mikaela Hickey tied for 54th with a 175 (87, 88).

The Oilers will now head to the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship, which is slated to be held at the Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. on April 22-24.
