Oilers Fall to Fourth After Round 2 at East Regional

Canton, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's golf team is in fourth place after the second day of competition at the NCAA Division II East Regional, which is being held at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. The Oilers carded a 320 on May 9 and trail the University of Missouri-St. Louis by 17 shots for third. The teams that finish in the top three after tomorrow's final round will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship that will be held at the Findlay Country Club.

Sophomore Samantha Hatter had the low score of the day for the Oilers, entering the clubhouse with a 78 (+6) for the round. She began her round with a 41 on the front, but was one under par on the back heading into the final hole before ending her round with a double-bogey. She is currently in a tie for 23rd overall.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Year, senior Shelby Warner, shot a 79 (+7) in the round and is now in a tie for 11th overall. She was birdie free, but did record 13 pars in the round.

Sophomore Makenzie Torres and freshman Meredith Wipper carded an 81 and an 82 and are in a tie for 26th and a tie for 33rd, respectively. Torres had two birdies and nine pars in her round while Wipper recorded two birdies and seven pars. The highlight of her round came on the final hole when she recorded an eagle on the 391-yard, par 4.

The final score came from freshman Samantha Kellstrom who shot an 84 (+12) in the final round. She had nine pars and a birdie and currently sits in a tie for 43rd overall.
