Houston, TX – After an opening round 78 on Wednesday, Findlay junior Makenzie Torres fired an even-par 72 in round two at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship held at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. After the round, played on May 17, Torres sits in a tie for 24th on the individual leaderboard.

The Grove City, Ohio native began her round on the back nine and, after a par on no. 10, she made a triple-bogey on the par five 11th. After that hiccup, Torres made birdie on three of the next seven holes to card an even par 36 on her first nine.

On the front nine she bogeyed two of the first four holes, but again rallied with birdies on the fifth and eighth holes for another 36.

Torres' seven birdies for the tournament are ninth-most in the field of 72.

There are two rounds remaining in the tournament and Torres, who started the day in a tie for 49th, sits just four shots out of tenth place with the top-ten and ties receiving all-American honors.
