Oilers Crowned Champions | Kniesly Wins Individual Title

Owensboro, Kentucky- The University of Findlay women's golf finished their final round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Fall Preview at The Pearl Club on Tuesday, September 17. The Oilers entered the round with a 14 stroke lead. The Oilers went on to win their first tournament of the season after beating out rival Tiffin. Findlay shot an opening round 294 and improved by one stroke in the final round with a score of 293. The two round total of 587 allowed the Oilers to win by 13 strokes over the rest of the field.

Kristina Kniesly bested the field with her sub-par 36-hole total of 142 (-2). After shooting 72 (E) in the first 18 holes, Kniesly won the event by capping off the tournament with a second round score of 70 (-2). The junior from Logansport, Indiana has now won this event in back-to-back seasons marking her only two collegiate wins.

Placing fourth and fifth in the tournament were sophomore Danbi Kim and senior Meredith Wipper. Kim fired a two round total of 147 (72,75) and Wipper just one back after shooting 148 (72,76).

Senior Mackenzie Keenoy placed ninth with a 150 (78,72) while sophomore Jill Schmitmeyer finished tied for 12th after a 36-hole score of 154 (78,76).

The Oilers will have a couple of weeks off before competing in their next tournament, the Gilda's Club Lake Invitational in Allendale, Michigan on September 28 and September 29.
