Oilers Take 2nd at Indy Fall Invitational

Results

The University of Findlay women's golf team finished second at the Indianapolis Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Sep. 15 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. The Oilers posted a three-round score of 904 (298, 300, 306) while Indianapolis won the event with a score of 875 (297, 286, 292).

Senior Meredith Wipper led the team at the tournament, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a 54-hole score of 222. Wipper shot an even-par score of 72 in the opening round and carded a 75 in each of the final two rounds for her total.

Junior Jill Schmitmeyer and sophomore Danbi Kim also recorded top-10 finishes for the Oilers at the tournament as Schmitmeyer tied for sixth while Kim tied for tenth. Schmitmeyer finished the tournament with a score of 225 (74, 73, 78) while Kim posted a 230 (75, 75, 80).

Freshman Gabby Woods placed 12th at the event with a score of 231 (77, 77, 77) while senior Kristina Kniesly tied for 15th with a 234 (80, 78, 76).

Freshman Abby Jones also competed for Findlay and tied for 22nd with a 243 (84, 79, 80).

The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct. 5-6 when they host their annual William Beall Fall Classic at the Findlay Country Club.
