Oilers Finish as Runner-Up at Beall Fall Classic

The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up the 2020 Beall Fall Classic on Oct. 6 at the Findlay Country Club with a runner-up finish. The Oilers posted a 54-hole score of 925 (302, 312, 311) while the University of Indianapolis won first place with a 903 (300, 298, 305).

Freshman Gabby Woods led the Oilers individually by tying for fourth place with a 229. Woods shot a 75 in round one before firing a 79 in round two. She then closed the tournament with a 75 in round three on Tuesday for her total to earn all-tournament accolades.

Senior Kristina Kniesly and junior Jill Schmitmeyer tied for eighth at the tournament with a 231 while senior Meredith Wipper finished 11th with a 234.

Kniesly posted a 76 in the opening round before shooting an 80 in round two. She then capped the tournament with a 75. Schmitmeyer meanwhile posted a 75 in round one and a 77 in round two before ending the event with a 79 on Tuesday. Wipper achieved her total with a pair of 76's in rounds one and two before firing an 82 in round three.

Junior Danbi Kim rounded out the Oilers "A" team efforts with a 244 (81, 81, 82) to finish in 19th place.

Findlay's "B" team added a fifth place finish with a score of 990 (332, 334, 324). Freshman Sarah Scarpill led the "B" team by taking 13th with a 236 (82, 80, 74) while freshman Abby Jones was 18th with a 243 (85, 81, 77).

Sophomore Lexis Fickel tied for 30th with a 254 (79, 89, 86) while freshman Jordan Pruitt tied for 33th with a 257 (86, 84, 87).

The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct. 10-11 when they compete in the Tiffin Fall Invite at Mohawk Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.
