#6 Oilers Runner-Up at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Sevierville, TN- The University of Findlay women's golf team played in the final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday, March 16th. With a three round total of 916 (300,311,305), the Oilers were able to finish runner-up in their first tournament of the spring season.

The #6 Division II team in the nation were led by senior Kristina Kniesly who finished with a 54-hole total of 224 (74,76,74). Kniesly's score placed her in 5th place overall and led the field in birdies made with 12. This marks her third straight tournament placing inside the top ten.

Junior Jill Schmitmeyer, who led the field in par five scoring for the tournament, finished with a 54-hole total of 229 (74,78,77) and good for a finish in a tie for 9th. Schmitmeyer has placed inside the top ten in all four starts for the Oilers this season including a win at the Tiffin University Fall Invite.

Senior Meredith Wipper finished in a tie for 15th place in the three round tournament. She posted scores of 74,81, and 75 to tallying a 54-hole score of 231. Wipper also had a solid performance on the par fives this week to have the second best scoring average in the field on par fives.

Junior Danbi Kim followed with a total of 236 (82,76,78) to place in a tie for 22nd. Freshman Gabby Woods rounded out the scoring with a 54-hole total of 241 (78, 81, 82). She placed in a tie for 34th.

The Oilers are continuing a strong campaign for the 2020-21 season with another runner-up finish. The team has compiled a four tournament span of one win to go along with three runner-up finishes. They will look to continue to make another run at a tournament win at the Findlay Spring Invite in Lexington, Kentucky on Monday, March 22nd and Tuesday, March 23rd.
