Oilers in First After Day One of the SVSU Spring Invitational

Lexington, Ky.- The University of Findlay women's golf team took on brutal winter conditions on day one of the SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday, March 18.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being hosted by Saginaw Valley State University and held at the par-72, 6,004-yard Cherry Blossom Golf Course. The Oilers recorded a round one score of 313 (+25) and are currently in first place.

Leading the way for the Oilers is sophomore Mary Kelly Mulcahy. The standout is currently tied for first after carding an opening round 74 (+2). M. Mulcahy's scorecard was rather routine as she recorded 14 pars, three bogeys, and one birdie. She is one shot ahead of Walsh's Sydney Hugo heading into the final round tomorrow. 

Assisting M. Mulcahy was senior Danbi Kim. Kim recorded a solid round of 78 (+6). She is in a tie for seventh and only four back of first place. Sophomore Erin Mulcahy shot 979 (+7) to leave herself in a tie for eleventh. Senior Jill Schmitmeyer is in a tie for 28th after recording an 82 (+10) to open the tournament. Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers is Gabby Woods. Woods carded at 85 (+13) to sit in a tie for 50th. 

Competing as an individual in the event was freshman Hayley Dye. Dye recorded an opening round 81 (+9) and is in a tie for 21st.

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, March 18 for the final round where they look to capture their first tournament win of the spring season.
