Oilers to Add Lacrosse

Steven Rackley, Director of Athletics at The University of Findlay, officially announced the plan to add women's lacrosse on Wednesday, May 18.  The sport, which will be the 24th at Findlay, will compete at the club level next year before moving into the NCAA Division II level in 2012-13.

"We are excited to announce the addition of women's lacrosse as an intercollegiate sport here at the University of Findlay," said Rackley.  "Lacrosse is the fastest growing women's sport at the college level and we feel it will be a great fit for our school and community."

Currently, Grand Valley State University, Lake Erie College and Tiffin University field women's lacrosse teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).  Ashland University, like Findlay, is in the process of adding a squad to their program.

"There are already four schools in the GLIAC playing women's lacrosse so we will have a conference schedule and the chance to play for a championship."

A national coaching search will commence immediately.
