Lankton, Fury Sweep Weekly GLIAC Awards

Junior Sarah Lankton and freshman Natalie Fury were named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week on April 27. Lankton captured offensive honors while Fury secured defensive accolades.

Lankton, who also earned the honor on March 31, recorded 13 goals and two assists in the Oilers three games last week. She also recorded 21 draw controls, 11 ground balls and caused nine turnovers during the stretch.

Lankton began the week with a goal, four ground balls and three draw controls in the Oilers 20-3 loss at 4th-ranked Lindenwood (4/20). She then had four goals, 12 draw controls and five ground balls in the Oilers 22-8 win at Alderson Broaddus (4/24) before closing the week with eight goals and six draws in Findlay's 18-15 loss at Shepherd (4/25).

The Carmel, Ind. native ranks third in the GLIAC in goals with 60. She leads the conference in ground balls with 57 and is ranked first with 86 draw controls.

Fury was stout on defense last week with seven ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers. She had five ground balls against Alderson-Broaddus to go along with three caused turnovers. She also had two ground balls and two draws against Shepherd.

The Glenolden, Pa. native has 25 ground balls, 12 draw controls and eight caused turnovers for Findlay this season.
