Oilers Win G-MAC Title | Defeat Dragons 9-8

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team came from behind to defeat Tiffin University 9-8 on May 4 in Tiffin, Ohio for their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) championship in program history. The Oilers end the season with a 10-9 record.

The Oilers fell behind 6-2 opening half before they scored two goals in the final 13 seconds to trim the Dragons lead to two. Senior Jacelyn Litman got things going with a free position goal and then senior Brie Caruso raced to beat the clock and scored just before the horn to make the score 6-4 in favor of Tiffin at intermission.

The Oilers came out in the second half and scored the first two goals to tie the game as freshman Kendra Lindell and junior Ciara Burud each found the back of the net in the first nine minutes of action. The two teams would then go back and forth until Tiffin's Maddy Batley made the score 8-7 in favor of the Dragons with 7:32 to play.

Down 8-7, Litman scored off of an assist from freshman Madi DeVries with 5:41 remaining to tie the game. Senior Brie Caruso then scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Lindell with 3:34 showing on the block.

Senior Claire Ferrell picked up the win for Findlay and made seven saves in the game. The victory gives her 19 for her career, which is a school record.

Litman finished the game with two goals and a pair of assists while Caruso and Burud each had two goals apiece.

Junior Allie Kasprzyk picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers while senior Brittany Stephens caused three turnovers and had two ground balls.

Senior Lexi Miller led the team with three draw controls while senior Emma Spellman tied for the team-lead with three ground balls.
