Findlay Succumbs to G-MAC Front-Runner Walsh

North Canton, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team hit the road to take on the Walsh University Cavaliers on Wednesday, Apr. 12. The Oilers fell by a score of 13-8. With this loss the Oilers fall to 5-8 on the season and 2-2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Meanwhile, Walsh- the front-runner in the G-MAC standings, improves to 10-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. 

The Cavaliers started the game with two goals but by the end of the first quarter, the Oilers tied the score 3-3. Each team only scored once during the second quarter- leavinf the contest tied at the half.

Walsh came out strong the second half, scoring an additional four goals, while Findlay remained scoreless in the third quarter. The Oilers tried to comeback during the fourth period, but it wasn't enough to take victory over the Cavaliers.  

Defensively, Walsh recorded 20 groundballs while Findlay had 13. The Oilers turned the ball over 15 times and the Cavaliers only recorded 12.  

Senior goalie Rachel Bornstein made six saves during play, had two groundballs and caused one turnover.   

Leading the Oilers offensively was senior Danielle Dilorenzo who was the top scorer of the day with three goals. She had one groundball and controlled the draw a total of eight times. Junior Madeline Shewbridge scored one goal, had one groundball and caused one turnover.  

The back of the net was found twice during the game by Senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow. She also had one groundball, and one draw control. 

Freshman Tessa Chuba and junior Erin Kodger each added one goal to the Oilers total as well as one groundball and a caused turnover. Kodger also had one draw control while Chuba had two.  

The Oilers will be back in action Sunday, Apr. 16 when they play Tiffin on the road at 12pm.
