Oilers Dominate in Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team defeated the Tiffin University Dragons 19-2 on Sunday, Apr. 16. With this win the Oilers advance to 6-8 in the season and 3-2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Tiffin moves to 5-9 and 1-4 in conference play. 

Tiffin scored the first goal of the game, but the lead was short lived as the Oilers came back and scored the next six goals ending the first quarter 6-1. Within the first two minutes of the second quarter, Findlay added two goals to their total. The Oilers ended the first half with a scored of 10-2, and once again only allowed Tiffin to score once during the quarter. The Oilers stayed strong continuing to not let the Dragons score at all during the second half and ending the game victorious. 13 of the 19 goals by Findlay were assisted and the Oilers took 35 shots on goal compared to the Dragons six.  

Senior Emma Heinrich had a standout offensive game for the Oilers scoring five goals and having two assists. Sophomore Olivia Alvarado found the back of the net twice during play, had one assist, and caused one turnover.  

Freshman Tessa Chuba scored two goals, had three assists, one groundball, five draw controls and caused two turnovers. Senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow scored two goals, had one assist, one groundball, four draw controls and caused one turnover. Senior goalie Rachel Bornstein made four saves during play.  

Senior Danielle Dilorenzo scored six of the Oilers goals and had two assists, four groundballs, caused two turnovers and had nine draw controls. Junior Madeline Shewbridge and Sophomore Emma Murrell both added a goal to the Oilers score. Shewbridge also had three assists. Murrell had one groundball and caused one turnover.  

The Oilers will be back in action Friday, Apr. 21 when they play Walsh at the Armstrong Sports Complex at 4pm.
