Oilers Fall 15-8 to G-MAC Unbeaten Cavaliers

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team fell to Walsh University 15-8 on Friday, Apr. 21 at the Armstrong Sports Complex. With this win the Oilers move to 6-9 in the season and 3-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Walsh moves to 12-3 and 6-0 in conference play.

Findlay scored the first goal of the game in the first minute of play. The Cavaliers then scored three goals in a row to take the lead. The Oilers came back and scored three goals in return. Each team found the back of the net once more ending the first quarter with a 5-4 lead for the Oilers.

The second quarter was just as close as the first ending with the Cavaliers coming out ahead and ending the half 10-6.

In the second half both teams had equal team saves and turnovers. Although, Walsh had double the number of successful clears than Findlay which contributed to their success in the second half and ultimately their victory.

Senior Emma Heinrich scored two goals for the Oilers, had two groundballs, and caused two turnovers. Senior Danielle Dilorenzo added two goals to the Oilers total as well as six draw controls and causing one turnover.

Sophomore Olivia Alvarado had four draw controls and one assist. Freshman Suvi Hollenbach and senior Amber Patterson both stood out on the defensive end causing a turnover each. Hollenbach had two groundballs Patterson had five. Senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow scored one goal and had a groundball.

Freshman Tessa Chuba had four draw controls, scored two goals, had one assist, two groundballs, and caused two turnovers. Junior Madeline Shewbridge found the back of the net once during play and had one assist as well as a groundball. Senior goalie Rachel Bornstein made eight saves and had one groundball during play.

The Oilers will be back in action Sunday, Apr. 23 when they play Ashland at the Armstrong Sports Complex at 12pm.
