GOALIE HOLDING BALL IN STICK

Findlay’s Early Dominance Proves Too Much for Ashland

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team welcomed the Ashland University Eagles to the Armstrong Sports Complex for their final home contest on April 23. A dominant first quarter stunned the visiting Eagles, giving the Oilers an 11-6 victory. With the win, Findlay improves to 7-9 on the season and 4-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Meanwhile, Ashland falls to 9-7 on the season and 5-2 in league play.

Findlay opened the contest asserting quick dominance- scoring four straight goals in the first five minutes of action. The Oilers would grow their lead to 7-2 to end the first quarter. In the final three quarters both teams scored four goals but it was the Oilers who would maintain their early lead to pick up the win over a top G-MAC team.

The Oilers were led by junior Madeline Shewbridge who recorded five goals and one assist. Senior Danielle Dilorenzo also played well and finished with three goals, six draw controls, and three caused turnovers.

Freshman Tessa Chuba, sophomore Olivia Alvarado, and senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow also contributed a goal each. Chuba also recorded four draw controls, two caused turnovers, and scooped up two ground balls.

Senior Rachel Bornstein got the win for the Oilers in goal- making an impressive twelve saves.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 30 when they travel to Pepper Pike, Ohio to take on Lake Erie College.
