Oilers Defeat Storm | Win 22-4

Painesville, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team defeated the Lake Erie College Storm 22-4 on Sunday, Apr. 30. With this win the Oilers move to 9-9 in the season and 6-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Lake Erie moves to 4-11 and 1-8 in conference play.  

Findlay took control of the game and scored six goals within the first quarter. The Oilers only allowed Storm to score four goals during play, three of which were during the second quarter. The Oilers ended the first half with a score of 13-3. Findlay continued their fight not allowing Storm to score at all during the third quarter and only once during the fourth, ending the game with a final score winning 22-4.  

Sophomore Olivia Alvarado and Junior Madeline Shewbridge both added a total of four goals to the Oilers score. Alvarado also had two groundballs, caused two turnovers and had one assist. Shewbridge also had three assists. Freshman Tessa Chuba scored three goals, had one groundball, caused two turnovers and had five draw controls.  

Senior Amber Patterson scored two goals, had two groundballs, and caused one turnover. Senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow scored two goals, had one assist, had one groundball and one draw control.  

Senior Danielle Dilorenzo found the back of the net five times during play and had a total of three assists as well as a whopping 13 draw controls. Senior Emma Heinrich scored one goal, had four groundballs, and caused one turnover.  

Senior goalie Olivia Bakowski made 3 saves during play.  

The Oilers will now await the seeding of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship. The semifinals will take place May 4 with the final game being held May 6.
