Three Major Awards Headline All-G-MAC Lacrosse Selections

North Canton, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its' selections for the 2023 lacrosse all-conference teams on Thursday, May 4 following the first game of the Great Midwest Women's Lacrosse Championship which is being hosted by Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Findlay, which is the second seed in the tournament, held nine all-conference spots including four first-team selections, three second-team selections, and two third team selections. The Oilers also took home three major awards as Danielle Dilorenzo was named Offensive Player of the Year, Rachel Bornstein was named Goalkeeper of the Year, and Tessa Chuba was named Freshman of the Year. 

Offensive Player of the Year (First Team All-G-MAC) – Danielle Dilorenzo 

With one of the best offensive seasons in program history, senior Danielle Dilorenzo has become the first G-MAC Player of the Year to don the Orange and Black. This season Dilorenzo, who was named G-MAC Player of the Week four times, led the conference in goals per game (3.75) and points per game (4.69).  

She put together one of the best offensive games of the season when she scored eight goals on 13 shots against Tiffin on April 2, picking up ten points, the most points in a single-game by any player in the conference this season. Dilorenzo also dominated at midfield, collecting a league-best 7.88 draw controls per game, more than two better than her closest competitor.  

Her 66 goals this season are the most by an Oiler since Kyra Bradley poured in 75 goals in 2015 while her 127 draw controls are second-most in program history, just seven shy of the school record set last season by Kendra Lindell. 

Goalkeeper of the Year (First Team All-G-MAC) - Rachel Bornstein 

Bringing home her second consecutive Goalkeeper of the Year award is senior Rachel Bornstein, now a three-time all-G-MAC selection. This season, Bornstein ranked second in the conference with 129 saves and was second in the league, among goalies that faced at least 170 attempts, with a save percentage of .426. 

This season, Bornstein was twice named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week, earning the award in back-to-back weeks on March 27 and April 3, respectively. In that two week stretch, Bornstein led Findlay to five wins and tallied 81 saves. 

Freshman of the Year (Third Team All-G-MAC) 

Earning the program's first conference Freshman of the Year award since 2013 is Tessa Chuba who made a splash for the Oilers in her debut campaign. Chuba finished fifth in the conference in goals per game (2.07) and was sixth in shots per game (4.53) to help lead Findlay's offense. Her best game of the season came against Davenport on March 23 when she scored six goals, leading to a victory for her squad. 

In total, Chuba scored 33 goals and had eight assists on the year, earning starts in 15 games. She recorded a shots-on-goal percentage of 81.7%. 

First Team Selections 

Junior Madeline Shewbridge earned a first-team spot in her first season with the Oilers, helping lead the team offensively. She was tied with Chuba for second on the team with 33 goals scored, but added a team-high 26 assists for a total of 59 points. Her 1.50 assists per game ranked fifth in the conference. 

A second-team pick last season, senior defender Amber Patterson is a first-team selection for the first time in her career. This year, Patterson ranked fifth in the league with 2.2 ground balls per game and was seventh with .94 caused turnovers per game, tying Dilorenzo for the team high. 

Second Team Selections 

Earning her second consecutive second-team selection is junior defender Erin Kodger who, this season, started in all 17 games for the Oilers, picking up 22 ground balls and causing ten turnovers.  

Also earning second team is freshman defender Brinlee Barry who was third on the team with 25 ground balls and ranked fourth on the squad with 14 caused turnovers. 

Senior midfielder Izzy Murphy-Morrow, a third team pick last season, earns second team all-G-MAC after tallying 45 points in 15 games. She scored 22 goals and was second on the team with 23 assists. 

Third Team Selections 

Along with Chuba, sophomore Olivia Alvarado has been named to the third team. Alvarado scored 27 goals this season and had 11 assists, totaling 38 points for her team. She was second on the team with 52 draw controls.
