Amy Long Hired as Women's Lacrosse Coach

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay department of athletics has announced the hiring of Amy Long as their new head women's lacrosse coach. Long comes to the Oilers from Saint Mary's College (IN) where she served as the Belles head women's lacrosse coach for eleven years.

"We are thrilled to announce Amy Long as the newest head lacrosse coach at UF," said Director of Athletics Jim Givens. "Her exceptional track record, dedication, and passion for the sport make her the perfect fit to lead our team. With Coach Long at the helm, we are confident that the future of Findlay lacrosse is brighter than ever."

Long was charged with creating the Saint Mary's program from its onset. Her teams increased their win total year-over-year from 2014 through 2018 - the first five years of the program's existence. Her teams posted at least 10 wins in six full (non-COVID) seasons from 2017 through 2023 with top-three MIAA finishes in each of those years.

Long's coaching legacy at Saint Mary's also includes the program's first MIAA Tournament Final appearance (2018), first All-Region honoree (2018), first MIAA Championship (2019), first MIAA Tournament Championship (2021), and first NCAA Tournament appearance (2021). The Belles finished as outright or co-conference champions twice and were two-time MIAA Tournament champions twice under Long's tutelage. In 2019, the Belles had three team members earn All-Region honors - another first for the program. Long amassed a 90-73 record with a 44-25 mark in MIAA contests during her time at the helm of the program.

Prior to her time at St. Mary's, Long served as the head coach of the Sylvania High School girls' lacrosse team and has held assistant coaching positions with the University of Toledo and Siena Heights University lacrosse programs. A Level 1 and Level 2 trainer with the U.S. Lacrosse Coaching Education Program, she teaches lacrosse coaches about the game during their certification process. Additionally, she is a U.S. Lacrosse level 3 certified, which is the top certification offered by the governing body.

Long graduated from the University of Toledo with degrees in marketing and professional sales. In August 2012, she completed her Master of Arts degree with a concentration in organizational leadership from Siena Heights University. She later completed a Master's in Business Administration at Saint Xavier in 2016.
